Amber is associated with sunlight and warmth. It is reputed to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and accelerate the healing of wounds and thus it is the perfect soother for babies and children when teething.
Amber is not actually a stone therefore not cold to the touch. In reality it is fossilised tree resin from forests that were flooded by sea millions of years ago.
It is a very old custom for babies and children to wear amber in various parts of Europe and the far east.
Today we believe that the power of amber to soothe pain lies in the body warmth releasing amber oil and in the fact that it creates an electromagnetic field which enhances the human frame of mind.
Baltic amber is a resin produced from ancient fossilised trees, the benefits of Baltic amber are said to be the result of its succinic acid content, a natural substance found in both the body and foods. It is said that when Baltic amber sits against the skin, it creates an electromagnetic field and with warming from the body, releases succinic acid that aids against inflammation and pain.
Used for thousands of years by ancient civilisations for its beauty and healing properties, it was believed that Baltic amber would give courage to the wearer, ward off evil spirits, protect against disease, strengthen the human spirit and purify the soul. To this day Baltic amber is believed to have spiritual properties that provide psychic protection and aid manifestations.
Baltic amber is referred to as an Adaptogen which aids in the body’s ability to deal with changes in the environment and stress. While the succinic acid in the resin is both an analgesic and anti-inflammatory, that is involved in many chemical processes within the body. Succinic acid assists with relieving pain, arthritis and symptoms of menopause.
Although the exact process of how Baltic Amber aids against inflammation and pain is unclear, reports have stated that it can assist teething babies with;
